No, of course not. I'll still be using LJ to scour for icons and fandom news.

But then, on the other hand...

 Is sexy.

In Glee - in the "Gap attack" scene - when Blaine runs past a rack of sunglasses, he puts on a pair of pink wayfarers. I was instantly like "STARKID OMG". Did anyone else notice that? That made me SO HAPPY.

Glee is such a guilty pleasure. But Kurt and Blaine really make it worth watching. Those gayboys can sing~

On a slightly more serious note, I really want to start writing longer entries. I want to write serious entries. Maybe I should grow an interest in current affairs. D;

I'M IN A RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE! (A Very Potter Sequel, of course.)

This is why:
fanfictionstrike.webs.com/theissue.htm
Now, really. What ever happened to freedom of speech? Surely these people can see that by trying to restrict the largest fanfiction community on the internet, they're stifling the creativity of thousands? This is not only truly unjust, but violates ff.net's ToS. I can tell that it is also a flawed system, from all I've read, much like Microsoft Word's grammar check. It doesn't take into account that many of the things you have done may be intentional - such as incorrect grammar to aid characterisation - and sometimes it is just plain wrong. Last time I looked, fanfiction didn't have anything against swearing or sexual innuendo - just make sure you rate your stories correctly, for heaven's sakes!

Let me just clear one thing up - I am in COMPLETE and UTTER support of good grammar in writing, and find it hard to read stories with bad grammar. However I do not believe that this means these stories should be obliterated from the site. Anyway, even the most punctilious grammarian can make a typo. It's NOT HARD. All it takes is the slip of a finger, or a momentary brainfart. Software does not have feelings, it is not discerning and critical. It will not be able to tell genuinely poor grammar from a typo. However, poor grammar is NOT AGAINST THE ToS OF FF.NET. This is one of the most important points here. This "Literary Union" themselves are violating the ToS by launching a bot against the site.

I don't pretend to know everything about this issue, however as a supporter of free speech, human rights and individual expression, I would like to inform anyone reading this how strongly I feel about this elitist, Utopian and purging manifestation of censorship. Cast your mind to Soviet-era censorship, and the Great Firewall of China. Both of these are countries under "Communist" regimes which will not hear a word said against them, and so reject one of the basic principles of the socialist ideal - freedom of speech. One will also recall various moments in history in which people have tried to cull everything else and leave only their "elite" behind, in the name of art among other things. This is a recurring theme - but it DOESN'T HAVE TO BE! Take a stand, sign the petition (
www.petition.co.uk/get-red-bootton--off-fan-fiction). Maybe even go on strike.

I'd like to state at this point that I don't plan on striking, as I feel it won't achieve much. I think it is much more powerful to stick it out and show these people that you're not afraid of their nonsense.

(I'd be a LOT of fun if a revolution ever came 'round. Just sayin'.)

Thank you if you read this. This is an issue about which I feel everyone should spend some time thinking.

I feel like such a tit; I haven't posted here for ages. Although it's not like anyone actually reads this stuff. I really need to get into more fandoms.

ANYWAY, Amanda Palmer at the Opera House was fantasmic! Afterwards, whilst my friend was waiting in the queue for autographs (I'd already gotten mine) he started playing "Creep" by Radiohead on his ukelele, and another friend and I were singing along. And then Amanda joined in. IT WAS AMAZING. AAAAAAAAH.

The concert was pretty good, too. Kim Boekbinder came on for the massive rendition of "Map of Tasmania", and I was well cut up that she didn't do any of her own songs. D:

Yeah.

Just WOW

 HOW COULD YOOOOOOUUUUUUU?

A REUNION CONCERT OR TWO? WITHOUT LETTING ME KNOW? I'M CUT.

BUT SERIOUSLY. SOMEONE GET ME A MOTHERFUCKING PORTKEY, I'M GOING TO THE UK.

So I guess what I'm saying here, my dearest fourth-favourite band (threatening to break third once I get my hooks on your first three albums), is RELEASE A DVD.

Thank you,

Bax.

PS: We live 'round here too, oh really.

It's getting close to Christmas, the time when there's nothing much on TV, and this year, I'm hoping for something more than re-runs of Christmas-themed Simpsons episodes under my proverbial tree. Yes, that's right. I want more than just the specials, more than "Love, Actually" for the five-hundredth time (even though I do adore that movie).

I think by now you should know where I'm heading with this. Rare is it that you get a good British TV show, but every now and then you strike a gem that really ought to be on the ABC. But let's not go there. The point is, that Merlin season 3 is already out in the UK, keeping the fangirls happy... but here? We're still waiting. Honestly, I need my Merlin fix. And if you don't give it to me by the end of my summer break, I'm going to download it illegally, and go to jail. And you don't want that on your conscience, do you, Channel 10?

Anyway, I don't want to push you. This is more of a light suggestion... I need my Merlin. Okay?

Okay.

With regards,

Disgruntled Fantard.
